  • Marathon, a team-based extraction shooter from Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, is officially set to release on September 23, 2025.
  • A closed alpha test for Marathon will begin on April 23, 2025, offering a limited number of players in North America a chance to play the game early.
  • The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

After years of anticipation, Bungie officially unveiled its new first-person shooter, Marathon, in a first-look trailer last week. With the success of Halo and influential titles like Pathways Into Darkness and the Marathon trilogy, Bungie picked 2025 as the year for a new extraction game. Following over a decade dedicated to the Destiny franchise, Bungie is revisiting its roots with this Marathon reboot, as we now have the official release date.

While the new Marathon game has been known to fans for some time, concrete information has been scarce. With the conclusion of Destiny 2’s main narrative in the Final Shape expansion last year, many anticipated a detailed look at Marathon. That moment has now arrived, as Bungie has provided its first comprehensive overview of Marathon, including its core features and planned release timeframe. Here is the first gameplay reveal trailer for Marathon:

Marathon Official Release Date and Platforms

After revealing the gameplay for the team-based extraction shooter, Bungie shared the official launch date for the game. Marathon will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) on September 23, 2025. Last week, after a Marathon showcase trailer Bungie revealed more about the game, including runners and some mechanics. Marathon will be available for alpha testing from April 23. Currently, the Marathon alpha test is available only for players in North America.

Before the game releases, you can also wishlist Marathon on the PS Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam. Are you excited for Bungie’s Marathon reboot?

Samsung Halts One UI 7 Update Rollout Once Again!

Samsung Halts One UI 7 Update Rollout Once Again!

In Short
  • Samsung has suspended the global rollout of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series due to a "serious bug."
  • The bug is reportedly found on both the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the devices.
  • Users who have already updated will receive a patch, and there is no new confirmed date of when the update will resume.

Last week, Android fans breathed a sigh of relief as Samsung finally started rolling out One UI 7 for its Galaxy S24 series. We were already looking forward to its update arriving in last year’s foldable lineup. But I guess Galaxy S24 users will have to wait a little longer, as Samsung has suspended the One UI 7 update globally.

This news comes from trusted Samsung leaker IceUniverse on X. He shared an X post stating that a “serious bug” has been found on the Korean version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series. And that is why the company has suddenly halted the rollout.

The discussions surrounding this halt also showed up on Samsung’s Korean forum. The issue was first thought to be limited to the Exynos version of the Galaxy S24 devices. But it is now confirmed to affect the Snapdragon variants of the Galaxy S24 as well. Another tipster, Tarun Vats, added that the firmware file for the One UI 7 has been removed from Samsung’s servers.

Samsung has yet to come out with an official statement. Moreover, users who have already updated their devices to One UI 7 will receive an update to patch the bug. Meanwhile, we have no confirmed date as to when the rollout will resume. This delay only means that the already delayed One UI 7 update will be pushed further back for Samsung’s complete lineup, especially older devices.

This doesn’t put Samsung in a good light, given that they have already taken a fair share of time to push the update in the first place. This delay will only cause further backlash from the users. It also begs the question of why this bug wasn’t discovered in the beta phase. While we wait for an official statement from Samsung, do let us know what you think about this delay. Also, have you updated your Galaxy S24 to One UI 7?

A Cheaper Vision Pro Is in the Works at Apple Along with AR Glasses: Gurman

A Cheaper Vision Pro Is in the Works at Apple Along with AR Glasses: Gurman

Apple Vision Pro launch date
In Short
  • Two new versions of Vision Pro are currently in the works at Apple, as per reports.
  • One is a lighter and cheaper version that should make the device a success with the masses.
  • Another is a tethered version for enterprise use that plugs into the Mac and should offer ultra-low latency.

The future of Vision Pro, Apple’s mixed reality headset, is not looking so murky anymore. Reportedly, the tech giant is working on a lighter and cheaper version of Vision Pro. After the headset failed to garner commercial success despite being a technological marvel, there was concern about whether the company would halt work on the product entirely. If the report is correct, that is no longer the case.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on two different models of Vision Pro instead of doing a simple hardware refresh.

One is a version of Vision Pro that would tether to the Mac, allowing users to stream their Mac’s display. It would reportedly prioritize enterprise apps. This wired setup would offer a low-latency connection that is currently impossible with the wireless setup. According to Gurman, it could be helpful for people who use the device for in-flight simulators or to view imagery during surgeries.

Now, the other version Apple is working on is the lighter and cheaper Vision Pro everyone’s been asking for. Vision Pro currently costs around $3500 and weighs 1.5 pounds. It’s heavier on both the pocket and the wearer’s neck and face. It’s one of the reasons Vision Pro failed commercially. People need to use third-party straps for additional support and to avoid fatigue.

With a lighter and cheaper version, Apple would be able to stand tall against competitors like Meta, which offer cheaper headsets and glasses. There are no other insights on how Apple plans to achieve this.

The tech giant is also working on augmented reality (AR) glasses and wants to deliver them before Meta. According to Gurman, AR glasses are a top priority for CEO Tim Cook, who has made it a top priority.

While AR glasses are a few years away, the two versions of Vision Pro should be here soon. There were also rumors going around about the cheaper and lighter version entering mass production for release between this fall and next spring. However, Gurman has reported nothing on this.
