Leaked CADs reveal Galaxy Z Fold 7 slimness, Z Flip 7 prioritizes battery upgrade

There’s a lot of confusion about the dimensions of the next Samsung foldables. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to be the world’s thinnest foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is prioritizing battery upgrade over slimness, leaked CAD suggests.

Amid intensifying rumors, we’ve got some authentic news about the Samsung foldables via SamMobile. The publication claims to have received credible CAD files of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, revealing dimensions.

Samsung’s Z Fold 7 may lag behind the Oppo Find N5 by a hair in slimness. The smartphone is said to be 4.54mm thin and nearly 9mm when folded. The dimensions are expected to be 158.43 x 143.14 x 4.54mm in the unfolded state.

The device will retain a triple camera setup on the back, replacing the 50MP primary shooter with an upgraded 200MP sensor. The remaining two rear camera, front camera would be the same, with improvements likely in UDC.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 may be 6.94mm thick when unfolded, matching its predecessor. This doesn’t mean Samsung hasn’t worked on refining the internals. The company did, and it is set to reflect in terms of battery capacity, boosted by 300mAh.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7’s possible dimensions are 166.61 x 75.23 x 6.84mm, with the camera bump upping the thickness to 9.17mm. A full-view cover screen is also on the cards, replacing the existing folder-icon style outer panel.

Earlier, a Korean media outlet reported that Samsung has opted for a Titanium backplate for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Tri-Fold models. It would replace the conventional material to reduce weight without compromising reliability.

Samsung will likely reveal the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 in July this year. The phones will ship with new Android 16-based One UI 8 OS, modern Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets, new Galaxy AI features, and enhanced experiences.

Samsung Galaxy S26 series may split chips (Snapdragon and Exynos) once again. A new report suggests that the company is likely to repeat its 2024 chip diversification strategy, which was a bit hit with the Galaxy S24 series.

The Galaxy S26 series will solely use the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in North America, China, Japan, and South Korea, the report suggests. However, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon processor, regardless of the country.

Samsung was quite ambitious for the 3nm-based Exynos 2500. However, the product ended up resting in research labs at the time of S25’s launch. It is now expected to be used in the Galaxy Z Flip7, with the Flip FE getting Exynos 2400.

The Exynos 2600 could be manufactured using a 2nm process node. Samsung is aiming to equip the Galaxy S26 models with its in-house chipset, but the commercialization can’t be expected until the yield reaches the production threshold.

Samsung may finally bring a true camera upgrade to the Galaxy S26 series next year. After years of reusing its 50MP ISOCELL sensor, the company is expected to replace it with a new 50MP solution from rival brand, Sony.

A new rumor hints that Samsung could replace ISOCELL with a Sony camera in the Galaxy S26 and S26 Edge. The input has no mention of the Galaxy S26 Plus, aligning with previous reports of Edge replacing Plus in 2026.

The Galaxy S26 and S26 Edge are said to feature a main camera from Sony. The sensor would have 50-megapixel resolution with 1.0µm pixels. The new solution could improve low-light shots, sharpness, and colors.

The company has stuck with the 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor for its base Galaxy S models since the S23. This upgrade makes sense. Samsung’s base models have lagged behind rivals like Xiaomi, which use big Sony sensors.

Camera sensors from Sony have an edge over ISOCELL in terms of mobile photography. Samsung’s ISOCELL works just perfectly with Galaxy phones, but Sony is a universally admired brand, offering decent mobile camera hardware.

Insider MaxJambor revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip FE is in production along with the Z Flip7 and Z Fold7. The source has also shared info about the possible weight of the Z Flip FE, which is said to be 187 grams – the same as Z Flip6.

Samsung may equip the cheaper Flip phone with the Exynos 2400. The main Flip model, the Flip7, is being produced using the 3nm Exynos 2500. The affordability may not bring much compromises in the foldable experience.

Max mentioned that the units being produced are “live demo units.” The company first prepares these models to be showcased at the retail stores. However, the production may have already shifted to consumer units this month.

The Green Line issue is a weird problem for AMOLED display phones nowadays. Most of the complaints suggest the green line appears shortly after installation of a phone software update, and an incident has recently been caught on live camera.

Recently, a Reddit user posted a video on the platform, showcasing his phone developing a Green Line on display during software update installation. The affected handset was an S21 FE, which is widely accused of having the OLED defect.

The user is alleged to have kept his phone stuck on an old firmware following the reports of a green line problem. The said software is One UI 6.1, which was released in April 2024 and caused OLED display defects on many Samsung models.

The Redditor claims that he has kept the update install reserved to avoid a potential green line nightmare. The update notification kept popping up daily, but the user managed to spend a whole year (April 2024 to April 2025) avoiding installation.

However, the nightmare came true, that too on live camera, when he decided to install the update. The procedure reached 60% without any defect, but shortly after, the screen spotted a developing thin vertical green line.

As the update installation progressed, the vertical line gradually thickened. The whole incident was being recorded on camera, and an image shared by the user later showcases the green line clearly visible, like we’ve seen on many models.

The Redditor has approached Samsung Support to get the display replaced, however, the service center didn’t offer the same. At the end, the user ended up getting a repair quotation of INR 17000, which is more than half of the device’s current price.
